Personal
-Eyes: They change from pruple to blue, or something in between.
-Hair: Dark brown
-Relative age: The oldest still in the holt, though still not very old (you know, for an immortal...)
-Life Path: Once, he was tanner. Now, he's full-time sage;->
-Skills: Tanning, and strange understanding. No one knows if he is empathic, telepathic, or has constant Farsight, but he knows things no one else does.
-Personality: At first meeting, Knotwood seems like just another of the Peacock Mountain lot, if a bit quiet. He prefers to live outside the heart of the holt, and always has since he was old enought to leave his Sire's den. This could be for any number of reasons, the most likely being that he loves to sit and... study. He studies the trees, the grass, the dirt, the animals, and the spirit that moves them all. He grew even more withdrawn after the death of Stillsong, but not because he was sad, only because she kept him tied somewhat to the holt. Nowadays, if you want to find the sage, you'll have to come to the woods where the mountain begins. He'll find you once you're there, he always seems to know when someone is near, and who it is. Not to mention what they want. Many consider him brilliant, others consider him mad, but all are awed by his understanding, once they speak to him.
-History: Ever the recluse, recognition was something of a surprise to the quiet Knotwood. He lived an extremely uneventful life until that day, when She looked at him, and he knew he could never go back. His daughters have always been a joy to him, and his Grandson occupies more of his time than any other elf, now. As soon as Lotus was ready to take over as tanner, he stepped down, finding no more joy in the work. He does not teach his understanding unless it is asked for, but His daughters and Cloud seem to enjoy it as much as he does himself, Cloud possibly enjoying it more. He does not mean to be mysterious, and doesn't think of himself as such. Perhaps living away from the holt has allowed him to think of his daily routine as perfectly normal, but his thoughts and behavior have always confused those in the heart of the holt.
-Relationships:
*Lotus* His eldest daughter and his sucessor as tanner, he has taken great care not to isolate her from the rest of the tribe just because he prefers to live outside. He is proud of the way she fits into the patchwork of the holt, tanner and counselor, life-bearer and lover. She is everything and more in his eyes.
*Sleepflower* Knotwood often refers to his younger daugter as "a child of the moons." She holds more power than anyone can remember seeing in a single elf, and is as quiet, subtle, and shining as the moons, not to mention mysterious. She reminds him so much of Stillsong in face and mannerism, that sometimes he thinks it must be her, come back through the great circle of being. Sometimes he worries about her being so reclusive, but he understands her reasons, and knows somehow that the issue will resolve itself.
*Marlin* Since he was a cub, the jovial symbol-maker has made it a point to visit Knotwood on a regular basis and hear about the great circle or the spirit or the life of a tree. Knotwood never fails to marvel at the way he and Snowfall (who he knows thinks he is mad) fit together, and the brilliance of their children.
*Cloud* perhaps his most attentive student, his grandson never fails to repeat, and sometimes expand upon his own lessons to him when they are done discussing a concept. Cloud never questions where they come from or how he thought of it, but accepts them as if they make perfect sense to him. Knotwood can feel the magic coming from him in waves and has told the boy so.
