Personal

-Eyes: Silver
-Hair: Brown-red
-Relative Age: Something of an elder in this young tribe, but still younger than Goldvoice.
-Life Path: Teacher
-Skills: Bow and arrow, hand-to-hand, knife, and some sword expertise. As a teacher of all fighting and hunting styles, Jay has a fantastic skill with each one.

Personality: Jay is a somewhat dreamy character, who loves the mountains and being as close to the sky as he can. He loves to just wander the mountains, thinking. Something in him is constantly a bit lonely. His easy personality makes him the perfect choice to teach skills to youngsters, and he has taught all of them since Fireshadow was born. He shares his younger brother's love of laughter, but is definitely quiter about it. His main concern is the well-being of Cloud, who he accepted as a sort-of son even before he and Lotus became Lovemates. He knows the boy has incredible potential, and for some reason wants to be the one to help him get there. Lotus is a source of constant comfort to this lonely spirit, with her empathy and immediate understanding. No one really knows too much about him, but they respect his teaching ability and his incredible and varied skills.

-History: Jay grew up with his brother Marlin, a happy, but always slightly lonely child. He always felt he was searching for something. He spent the greater part of his life alone, wandering, returning to give lessons or talk to his brother for awhile. Then, after the death of Swiftfox, he began to see the young Cloud, who latched on to him early on, as a son. The lad, who he often calls "Sky Child" as Lotus does, endeared himself to Jay as a cub by asking him if he could touch the sky if he went to the top of the mountain. Those are the kinds of questions Jay likes to sit and think about. Later, after many turns, he and Lotus found something they'd long been missing in one another.

-Relationships:
*Marlin* The brothers are more alike than they seem on the surface. Both have, at their very core, a free spirit. Marlin's manifests itself through laughter, and Jay's through wandering. This led them to an understanding early in life, and created a bond stronger than the average blood-tie.
*Lotus* Such a lonely spirit as Jay could not help but wish for a lass like Lotus. Her empathy means he doesn't have to explain things, her smile means she loves him unconditionally. He loves Lotus for her gentle nature and cooling touch, for her wisdom beyond her years. The teacher needs someone who can teach him, perhaps.
*Cloud* For reasons unknown to him, he found himself talking to the boy many turns ago, when Cloud asked him if he could touch the sky. From then on, he felt as if this boy was his own son. Cloud latched onto him as a father, and he immediately returned the sentiment. Another balm for a lonely soul, perhaps?
*Fireshadow* His star pupil, and dear nephew, Fireshadow is a constant source of wonder and pride to Jay. He is proud to have taught such an accomplished bowman and combatant, but he is more proud that Fireshadow has long since passed him in expertise. He is one of the few in the holt who is comfortable in the presence of such hot Dragon Blood as Fireshadow's. They both know that talk is not always necessary, sometimes it's nice just to be in the company of those you love.
*Highsun* Highsun amuses Jay, partly because he's the most amusing fellow he knows (other than Marlin) and partly because he can't believe this jovial lad came from Snowfall. Who knew his little brother's blood was so thick? Next to Fireshadow, Highsun is the quickest learner he's ever seen, while being the most popular fellow in the holt. Jay admires that, and almost wishes he'd been able to love the way Highsun does in his early youth.
